Christian Bale has a clear message for George Clooney: stop complaining about the paparazzi. During a recent interview, he slammed Clooney for “whining” about it.

Bale told WSJ magazine that Clooney talking about the constant presence of paparazzi in his life is “boring.”

“It doesn’t matter that he talks about it,” he said. “It’s like, come on, guys, just shut up. Just get on with it and live your lives and stop whining about it. I prefer not to whine about it.”

Bale has been married for 14 years to former model Sibi Blazic, whom the interviewer admits he doesn’t know what she looks like. Bale then made it clear he wants to keep his family life as private as possible, and offered a story about just how the paparazzi uses loved ones to bait celebrities into a reaction.

“I was in Italy with my wife. I would go to work; she would leave the hotel. There would be a man who stood outside . . . and say the most obscene things imaginable to my wife,” he recalled. “I know what he’s after; he has a strategy there. Am I able to say I’m not gonna give him that satisfaction of angry Christian Bale coming after this man? But equally, he’s killing my humanity and my dignity as a husband if I do not, and he knows this. So you’ve got a choice.”
