When American Idol will return in January, the hit show will no longer have those product placement Coca-Cola cups, as the company has broken ties from the series.
According to E! News, Coca-Cola has sponsored the show since its beginnings in 2001.
A representative for the company reportedly told E! News, “I can confirm that Coca-Cola and Fox have mutually decided to end our 13-year American Idol partnership. After 13 years, we feel it is the right time for the Coca-Cola brand to venture into new spaces and pursue other opportunities to connect with teens and leverage music as a passionate point.”
Other sponsors for the show have included AT&T, which stopped their sponsorship already, and Ford, which will continue to work with the show.
Variety reported that American Idol has seen a ratings decline and Fox has decided to air less episodes than the previous run of two nights a week.
E! News reported Ryan Seacrest recently made the announcement about American Idol being cut to one night a week, which is the same thing Dancing With The Stars did.
Judges for the fourteenth season will include Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. Randy Jackson recently announced his own departure from the show.
