David Fincher’s busy schedule shows no signs of slowing down. The Gone Girl director is developing the series Living on Video and Shakedown for HBO.
Deadline reported that Shakedown has entered development after months of speculation. A collaboration between Fincher and L.A. Confidential author James Ellroy, Shakedown takes a look into the tabloid scene of 1950s Los Angeles. Fincher once attempted to adapt Ellroy’s The Black Dahlia for HBO, but those plans fizzled out and the story was turned into a 2006 Brian De Palma film.
Living on Video, on the other hand, follows a music video crew in the 1980s. The Wrap said that Fincher will executive produce the series and direct the pilot episode.
These aren’t Fincher’s only projects at HBO, though. He’s currently set to direct every episode of the first season of Utopia, written by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn and based on a British series.
Fincher has been moving more towards TV since he first started producing House of Cards. He recently exited the upcoming Steve Jobs film, which Danny Boyle is now directing.
