News anchor David Muir and ABC News will have an internet friendly news show on Facebook.
The one-minute news show was announced by an ABC News press release and is entitled Facecast: The One Thing. Muir, who is host of World News Tonight, will also host the short social media broadcast, which is said to summarize headlining and trending news and subjects. The first show will begin airing Monday, December 1 on the Facebook page for World News Tonight, but no specific time of day was revealed.
“We are grateful that our audience engages with David Muir and World News Tonight on social media all day long,” said Almin Karamehmedovic, the executive producer of ABC’s nightly news program, in the press release. “We’re very excited to launch a newscast that is exclusively for Facebook where users can continue the conversation beyond the evening newscast at any time.”
Facecast will be filmed at the headquarters of ABC News in New York City, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with a new newscast airing every day.
CBS also revealed a live internet-streaming news program the previous month called CBSN, according to Variety.
