In her autobiography, actress and model Brooke Shields discussed losing her virginity at a young age to actor Dean Cain. Now, he has spoken out about that time, indicating good ties remain between the two.
While being interviewed for Today, Cain called Brooke a “wonderful, wonderful girl” and said they were “college sweethearts.”
Us Weekly reported that in her memoir, There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me, Shields opened up about her college relationship with Cain while at Princeton and how her mom was very judgmental when it came to their relationship.
Shields describes how a moment that should have been just for her was overcome by “guilt slapping me in the face,” she wrote. The events caused Shields to become so overwhelmed that she ran out of bed into the hallway.
E! News reports that Cain got up and went to her to provide some comfort. He said: “It wasn’t like it was some awful giant thing, but she saw it that way, but I was just there to be there and calm her down and that worked.”
Cain also said he hoped the two would continue to be good friends, as he felt their relationship was special.
What else did Cain have to say about them being together? “I don’t think a girl loses her virginity; they give it," he said. "We were in love. She was a wonderful girl.”
Cain will be seen in the Christmas movie, Merry ExMas. It is scheduled to air Dec. 7 on the Ion network.
