Demi Lovato might seem like the epitome of someone who has come full circle after her 2010 rehab stint, but the “Really Don’t Care” singer has revealed she almost checked herself back into rehab this past summer.
Lovato told Fitness that her eating disorder issues creeped back, but thankfully her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama spoke up.
"It's been difficult. I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer. I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time. Wilmer [Valderrama, her boyfriend] noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief," she said.
"I was done being afraid of food and so tired of overeating and not knowing why I did it,” explaining that she’s now learning “portion control” by putting herself on a “structured meal plan.”
Lovato credits working out with keeping her both “physically and mentally” healthy. She also looks to some role models for inspiration and motivation.
She said of Beyonce, "If she can work out, have the incredible body she has, have a kid, and be as successful as she is, then I sure as hell can, too.”
Lovato also counts the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea as role models. They “don’t try to hide their curviness,” she said, adding, “It's so nice to look around and see women with hips and a butt.”
