The first woman to be crowned Miss America from the state of Mississippi died on Tuesday at the age of 77.

People.com noted that Mary Ann Mobley passed away at her home in Beverly Hills.

The former pageant winner and actress had Crohn's disease and was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2009.

Some of her acting credits include Girl Happy, Harum Scarum, Diff'rent Strokes, Falcon Crest, Fantasy Island and Love Boat. She was married to fellow actor Gary Collins, who died in 2012.
