Howard Stern will keep his summer job. The shock jock will be back to judge another season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
Stern has been on the show since 2012 and was picked as a replacement for Piers Morgan. Since he has come on, he has built a friendly rapport with Howie Mandel while also trying to take the job seriously (occasionally).
“I decided that a life without AGT is not a life worth living,” Stern said in a statement. “America needs a caring, compassionate and wise judge and who am I to deny the people what they want? It would be selfish of me to walk away.”
Executive producer Trish Kinane said that she’s “delighted” to have Stern back. “He is honest, charismatic and committed to finding the best talent in America,” Kinane said. “It’s going to be an amazing Season 10.”
Stern’s day job is hosting his own show on SiriusXM satellite radio. He has been on the radio for over three decades.
Last season’s judges panel also featured former Spice Girls singer Mel B and supermodel Heidi Klum. NBC has yet to confirm if they will be back or not.
Auditions for the new season will start on Jan. 24 in Chicago. The show will also visit St. Louis; San Antonio; San Francisco; Tacoma, Washington; Boise, Idaho; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; and Phoenix.
AGT typically starts its seasons in late May.
