After another disappointing season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the blame game began and led to the firing of the team’s offensive coordinator.
ESPN reported that Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said coordinator Jedd Fisch was let go due to “philosophical differences” regarding starting quarterback Blake Bortles.
Bradley blamed Fisch for giving the rookie too much work when he was called upon this season.
"There is a lot of truth now to philosophical differences as far as we want to put on Blake's plate to do a lot," Bradley said. "I just think we want to help him get better every day and not overwhelmed. I think you know my philosophy enough of be careful of how much you put on a guy to create a lot of anxiety that might keep him from being his best."
The firing of someone on the coaching staff was inevitable given that the team did not improve much from the previous year.
Jacksonville ended the season in third place in the AFC South with a dismal 3-13 record; one game better than the last place Tennessee Titans.
The Orlando Sentinel noted that one of the names insiders have brought up as a possible candidate for the vacant job is ex-Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman. The former head coach who is friends with Bradley, was relieved of his coaching duties on Monday. Next season, if the Jags offense does not improve Bradley may be relieved of his duties.
