San Francisco 49ers current head coach Jim Harbaugh is at a crossroad. While he remains in the eyes of most a terrific football coach, his future is as hazy as can be. A recent report has surfaced that his family is encouraging him to go back to his alma mater.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Harbaugh's family and close friends are all encouraging him to return to Michigan and take over the program. It's clear that Michigan wants Harbuagh. Despite the accuracy of the exact figure of the reported contract, we all know it's huge dollar amount.

Schefter goes on to say that Harbaugh is also interested in returning to where he called home during college, but is "torn because his heart is in the NFL." And why not, he's lead his 49ers to the NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl appearance during his first three seasons as coach.

Harbaugh leaving San Francisco is about the only sure thing in this entire process. It's clear that the coach who restored the 49ers dominance the past three seasons will be gone following the season due to in-fighting within the organization.

The Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and any other team without a coach will be interested in his services. The Raiders are the hottest name, as Harbaugh wouldn't even need to move out of the area, something that he'd like to do. It's also widely known that his wife loves the west coast, notes

Regardless of where he wants to go, if it's the NFL then that team will have to compensate the 49ers as he's still under contract for one more season, notes CBS Sports.
