With the sexual misconduct allegations against Bill Cosby hard to ignore at this point, many public figures have voiced their opinions about it. Most have simply commented that they hope the claims are untrue, but Judd Apatow took it a step further.

Apatow defended the many women who have stepped forward with sometimes gruesome allegations during a Twitter chat.

When someone suggested what they were doing was “extortion,” Apatow reasoned, “it is not extortion when most of the accusers do not want anything. These are much older woman who suffered for decades.”

He went on to write, "I always wonder why some people try so hard to not believe women who have been assaulted. What is the root of that?"

After months of mostly silence on the allegations, Cosby will now reportedly try to discredit his accusers by hiring a group of private investigators to look into their pasts.

During a meeting with his legal team, he is quoted as saying “If you’re going to say to the world that I did this to you, then the world needs to know, ‘What kind of person are you? Who is this person that’s saying it?’ You can’t say that I put something in your coffee, threw you in a cab and then you go on and live a high-profile life, a famous life and you never complain.”
