Filmmaker Kevin Smith has never been shy about his deep love of Star Wars. He seems to find room in all his movies for at least one reference to the original movies, and also wiggles room into his normal speaking pattern about George Lucas' original films. So when the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer hit Friday, it was only a matter of time before Smith would express his feelings on the new footage. Sure enough, Smith has now spoken out on what he thinks of J.J. Abrams' new movie.
The people over at Comlink got his reaction in Smith's four minute video on the trailer. Warning viewers to "get ready for a f**king anecdote," Smith goes on to express his excitement for the new footage, and recounts how it made him feel like a kid again, see Star Wars on the big screen while his parents sat beside him. While his parents weren't not beside him while he viewed the footage, especially considering that his father passed away a couple years ago, that didn't shake the childlike glee he had watching the footage from "Jar-Jar Abrams."
While there are no surprises here, it's always fun to see Smith talk about Star Wars once again in his rambling, off-the-cuff, R-rated manner. It's also apparent from this video Smith grew back his beard after shaving his beard in October for his new movie, Yoga Hosers.
Additionally, while this is the first time most people have seen anything from the new movie, Smith did get the chance to visit the set earlier this year.
In addition to having Yoga Hosers coming out sometime next year, he had Tusk come out this year (read our review here).
