Two years ago when Notire Dame stud linebacker Manti Teo entered the NFL Draft, the question was how he and the league would handle the very public story that was his imaginary girlfriend. So far there hasn't been much to discuss. That is, until this week.
San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Anthony Davis tweeted this on Sunday after his team lost to Teo's Chargers:
Today, Teo had something to say on teh topic according to UT San Diego.
"I told him, 'Find a new joke.' I got harassed a few times last year (on the field)," Te'o said. "I expected that. But this year?"
The worst part about the tweet from Davis was that his team provided an absolute gag-job against the Bolts on Sunday, blowing a 21-points lead. And even worse that that is that Teo played well picking up 11 tackles and a sack, playing every defensive snap for his team.
San Diego head coach Mike McCoy weighed in on Te'o, saying "I think he's really come on." "He's got a bright future for us. I think the more he plays, the more experience he has in the system, the better he's going to be. It showed (Saturday) the way he's learned the system and his ability to fly around and make some big plays for us."
The Chargers look to end a successful regular season and sneak into the playoffs this week as they'll take on the Kansas City Chiefs. A win will guarantee them a spot while the 49ers are already guaranteed a golf date following this Sunday.
