The good thing, or bad thing depending on how you look at it, about social media is that everyone can find out breaking news faster than ever before. Even the wives of athletes, who are the subject of baseball trades, can learn their significant other’s fate simply by checking their Twitter feed.

ESPN W reported that this was the case with Mat Latos’ wife, Dallas, when she saw rumors online about her husband being traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Miami Marlins.

The pitcher’s wife was a bit emotional when she saw sources claiming that her husband was being shipped out of town and gave her followers a play-by-play of her roller coaster of emotions.

Latos then revealed that the last time her and husband learned that he was traded from the San Diego Padres was through SportsCenter and questioned reporters if they were certain about this trade.

Eventually, Latos tweeted that she was not upset about the trade, just surprised by it. Her husband has a career ERA of 3.34 and a 60-45 record, Baseball-Reference.com noted.

It’s definitely possible, if not likely, that other baseball wives are checking their Twitter feeds right now to see if their husbands are about to be traded.
