Mel B’s husband, Stephen Belfaonte, has fled to Los Angeles following reports he had physically abused his wife and that their marriage is over. He has denied ever laying a hand on her and is now commenting on split rumors.
As we previously reported, fans were concerned after the former Spice Girl was hospitalized for reported severe stomach pains, because when she returned to the X Factor for its finale she had bruises and wasn’t wearing her wedding ring. This lead to speculation Belafonte was responsible for her hospitalization.
Belafonte had responded to rumors he had abused her on Twitter right away, calling them “disgusting” and “untrue.”
He’s now talking to the UK’s MailOnline, saying he had “no idea” there were reports speculating their split. He also said he’s “not disputing it.”
"No one has accused me of anything," he continued of the abuse claims. "Who accused me of it? Did she accuse me of it? The police? The hospital? Who accused me of it? I thought when you beat someone up the police or the hospital or the person you beat up says it."
Mel B hasn’t publicly spoken out about any of the marriage, abuse or hospitalization rumors. He said media outlets reporting on the alleged abuse will receive “legal letters” from his wife’s rep.
