A new documentary by the Backstreet Boys shows the band’s history and the successes and pitfalls that befell them during their time together.
Contact Music reported that the band, who have been together for 20 years, were a hit back in 1999, but their recognizable image soon faded away. In addition to their fame with hit songs like “I Want It That Way,” the band battled lawsuits against their former manager Lou Pearlman, who was accused of stealing their earnings.
Plus, band members dealt with their own issues such as drug addiction in AJ McLean’s case and Kevin Richardson leaving the band.
The documentary, titled Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of was directed by Stephen Kijak, who directed Cinemania.
The film will be released in the UK on Feb. 26, 2015 while the US will see a release on Jan. 30.
The Verge reported that the documentary also follows the band’s reunion in 2012 when they made their newest album together following Richardson’s return.
Members also include Nick Carter, who found his own fame as a solo artist, Howie Dorough, and Brian Littrell.
