After a very successful Thanksgiving, ahem, I mean Bangsgiving, Nick has his first official date with Tran’s granddaughter. While Nick is gearing up for his date, Winston is studying hard, or hardly studying, for his test at the police academy. And while Jess and Cece are making a whole bunch of favors and decorations for Nadia’s baby shower, Schmidt starts to bicker with Coach about the DVR. Coach shuts down the argument by punching Schmidt in the stomach.
Jess insists that she and Cece never fight, and the way that the guys handle their issues, with brutality, is crazy. In all reality, Cece and Jess just refuse to address any issues in their friendship, instead, they try to out-nice each other. Schmidt, of course, throws a wrench in the workings by telling Cece that Jess owns the purse that both she and Cece agreed not to buy, because they couldn’t decide who should have it.
Nick and Kai are on their first date, and it’s very awkward. They’re both equally awkward, though, it’s not just Nick being awkward Nick. The two were made for each other, being basically carbon-copies of one another. Who would have thought another creature like Nick existed on this earth, let alone in female form? They head back to the apartment together, and Coach and Winston watch from a distance, saying how cute the two are as a couple.
Three days have passed now, and Nick and Kai still have not moved from the couch. Coach and Winston agree that it’s no longer cute. It’s just weird, now.
While she’s out getting lattes in hopes of mending things with Cece, passive-aggressively of course, Jess runs into Cece, and Cece is sporting the yellow purse that Jess bought without Cece’s knowing. But how did Cece get the purse? Schmidt is taking these two friends into uncharted, fighting territory. Cece and Jess start having an emoji fight on their phones, and after Cece sends Jess a double syringe emoji, Jess gets angry and tracks down Cece at Nadia’s baby shower.
Back at the apartment, Nick and Kai are quizzing each other and coming up with matching answers on every question. Nick thinks he couldn’t have found a more perfect girl, but Winston steps in and shatters the illusion. Winston has a theory – Kai is homeless and Nick is her sugar daddy. Now having this thought stuck in his head, Nick insists that Kai takes him to her place for the night.
Showing up at Nadia’s baby shower teeming with anger, Jess storms in, and she and Cece stare each other down. Not knowing how to handle the fighting, Schmidt calls Coach on the phone for help. Only after Schmidt admits that Coach knows more about women than him does Coach agree to come help Schmidt out.
By the time Coach arrives at Nadia’s baby shower, Jess and Cece are in the middle of crying and yelling at each other over everything that they’ve held in over the course of their friendship rather than fighting. Coach tries to convince them that if they just punch each other, they’ll feel better, so Cece tackles Jess to the ground, and then this sets off a chain of fights amongst the girls at the baby shower.
As the episode comes to a close, and Cece and Jess get their wounds patched up at the hospital, they realize that physically releasing their anger did allow them to feel better. They’re back to being best friends, and as a thank you to Coach and Schmidt for their “help” with the whole situation, they make the guys realize their feelings, and now Coach and Schmidt are fighting like girls. Winston shuts it down by punching them both. Kai takes Nick to her place, only for Nick to find out that she’s rich. Instead of going to work for the night and making money, Kai pays Nick to stay with her instead. Who’s the sugar daddy now, or should I say sugar momma?
