Nicki Minaj spoke with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez while promoting her new album The Pink Print and gave a rare glimpse into her personal life. She recently split with her longtime boyfriend, Safaree Samuels.
Minaj has barely spoken about Samuels in the past, even though she dated him for over a decade.
“I’ve never been single for the last 15 years of my life,” she said. “There is till nothing but love there,” HipHopHollywood reports.
She hinted they might not even officially be broken up, saying she doesn’t know if she’s single right now or not.
When Martinez pointed out some of the songs on her album insinuate she was angry or depressed, relating to her relationship, Minaj called it an “argument frozen in time.”
“This is somebody I grew up with. I don’t even know how I’m going to function without that person in my life. I never lived my life as a famous person without him. I don’t even know how to really function. I tell my girlfriends, my best friends, sometimes I still want to tell him stuff and get his opinion,” she said.
She then broke down into tears after saying that, which forced them to take a quick break.
