The Oakland A’s baseball team continues to make moves this offseason.
The latest deal came Monday with the trade of first baseman and outfielder Brandon Moss to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Joey Wendle, a minor-league infielder.
Moss was on fire during first half of last season, posting 21 home runs and 66 RBI before the All-Star break.
After the Midsummer Classic, he managed to record a .173 batting average with four homers and just 15 RBI, while nursing a hip injury, reports USA Today.
Moss, 31, will be added to a Cleveland lineup that features Michael Brantley, Carlos Santana and Yan Gomes. Each of them belted at least 20 homers last season.
Wendle has played three seasons in the minor leagues and has amassed a .292 career average. Last season, he posted a .253 batting average with 50 RBI, eight homers and a .311 on-base percentage in Class AA.
This move adds to Oakland’s already busy offseason. The A’s have acquired Billy Butler from the Kansas City Royals and Ike Davis from the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Sports News.
