Ken Weatherwax, who appeared on the original The Addams Family television series in the 1960s, has died. He was 59 years old.
His death was announced on Facebook by his niece, Sanya Vieira. She confirmed that he died on Sunday following a heart attack.
Weatherwax’s family told TMZ that they plan on hosting two funerals, one just for family and another for his fans.
As Entertainment Weekly points out, Weatherwax played Pugsley, the son of Gomez (John Astin) and Morticia Addams (Carolyn Jones) during the 1964-1966 series. He also voiced the character during a 1970s animated series and played Pugsley Sr. in Halloween with the New Addams Family, a TV movie.
Weatherwax worked behind the scenes in Hollywood as a set builder and grip, but made frequent appearances at conventions.
The Addams Family centered on a unique family with odd habits and supernatural interests, to say the least. The series inspired two movies and a Broadway show and is based on characters created by Charles Addams.
