Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was rushed to the hospital after being involved in a car crash in Charlotte Tuesday.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. According to WBTV, there has been no word on how many other people were involved. There was another car with front damage that was loaded onto a flatbed tow truck. Newton’s pickup truck was on its side.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Newton was being treated for around 20 minutes on the sidewalk before an ambulance arrived. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police spokesman Rob Tufano confirmed that he was taken to the hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Another person was also taken to the hospital.

A witness told the Observer that he saw Newton’s Dodge truck collide with a Buick sedan, which had temporary Georgia licence plates.

Newton has not missed a game yet in his NFL career, since the Panthers drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011. The team currently has a 4-8-1 record after beating the Saints on Sunday.
