Scott Stapp, the frontman for the band Creed, threatened to assassinate President Barack Obama last month, according to a 911 call from his wife Jaclyn and his sister-in-law that surfaced this morning.

The tape was obtained by TMZ after Stapp managed to get out of a mental facility late last month. His sister-in-law told the dispatcher that he was riding a bike around his neighborhood without a shirt on and was not taking his medication. In addition, she told the dispatcher that Stapp believed he was a CIA agent told to kill Obama.

They told 911 that Stapp had been in and out of rehab several times and tries to self medicate.

“We stood by him because we know he’s ill,” Jaclyn said. “I love him and we want to see him get better, but I think we need law enforcement help because that’s the only way he is going to stop.”

TMZ reports that the entire tape runs 40 minutes. They say that Stapp was carrying a 400 to 600-page pack of CIA documents from online in a bag. They pleaded that he be taken back to a psych ward.

Stapp’s struggles became well known in November when he posted a Facebook video, claiming that he is broke and clean. He added that people would come after him if he told the truth. Then, it was revealed that Stapp was on a psych hold days before the now-deleted video was posted. Jaclyn also filed legal documents to get Stapp on a 60-day psych hold because he is using a dangerous mix of drugs that includes weed, cocaine, PCP and amphetamines.

“It is a very painful and personal matter for the family,” Jaclyn said in a statement earlier this month.
