Jess Smith has held a secret for 19 years and she was finally ready to come forward with it this week. She claims that she is that smiling baby face in the sun in the iconic U.K. Teletubbies series.

Smith is currently a first-year dance student at Canterbury Christ Church University and was playing a game with her friends when she spilled the beans. The Daily Mail reports that she also came forward on Facebook. She posted pictures of herself smiling, just to prove that she still has that smile.

“I thought I may as well tell them as I'm going to be spending the next three years with them. My mother is really chuffed,” she told the Daily Mail.

To prove that she wasn’t just making this up to get some social media attention, she posted a picture of a letter from the show’s production company, Courtyard, dated June 17, 1996, written to her parents. It proves that she is the Teletubbies baby, not Laguana Beach’s Jessica Smith.

“I'm not sure why the actress is claiming to be the face or why people think she is,” Smith told the Daily Mail of claims that the soap star was the baby. “She would have been 10 at the time of filming - and she doesn't even look like the baby.”

According to The Mirror, the Teletubbies producers had her sit in a high chair during filming, to make it look like she was looking down at Tinky-Winky, Po, Laa Laa and Dipsy. She was only paid £250 and was given a box of toys.

Teletubbies went on to be a huge international hit and the BBC is even planning on making 60 new episodes of the series.
