Teresa Giudice is suing her bankruptcy lawyer for $5 million, blaming him for her 15-month jail sentence.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, who will be serving concurrent sentences with her husband Joe Giudice for multiple charges of fraud, is suing attorney James Kridel, who represented the couple when they filed for bankruptcy in 2009.
At the time, they were $11 million in debt. Their fraud charges stem from their Chapter 7 petition Kridel helped them put together, which they’re accused of hiding assets on, CBS News reports.
In the lawsuit, Giudice claims he failed to prepare her for meetings, never met with her before filing the bankruptcy paperwork and failed to list the assets needed for the documents.
TMZ reports she claims it was Kridel who hid assets such as cars, various incomes and more – which is the reason she’s going to jail.
Giudice is required to report to jail by Jan. 5 and her husband will serve 41 months when she completes her sentence.
