In this episode of The Big Bang Theory, Amy decides to host a Victorian Christmas dinner. Raj’s parents are going through a divorce, so Raj invites his father over.
During the party, Raj gets a call from Leonard and Howard who are at the university, so he leaves his dad, Penny and Amy behind to go help them. Meanwhile, Bernadette is driving Sheldon to the party. She sings along to Christmas carols, which Sheldon finds annoying, so he turns them off. Bernadette asks Sheldon what he got Amy for Christmas. Sheldon explains that they aren’t exchanging because he doesn’t like Christmas and hates that Amy forces him to celebrate it. Sheldon decides he will buy Amy a gift to teach her a lesson. He feels that she won’t have one for him and she will feel bad.
Bernadette goes to the mall with Sheldon so he can get Amy a present. While coming up with ideas, Sheldon talks about things she likes and things he enjoys about her in a loving way but he then continues on his journey to find her a gift that will make her feel “small and worthless.” He decides to pose for a picture with Santa. Santa doesn’t like Sheldon’s plan and hilariously thinks that dating him is punishment enough.
Back at the party, Amy and Raj’s dad are playing a riveting party game, which consists of blowing a ball of wool back and forth across the table. Penny watches, but is not amused.
At the university, a bird entered the clean room where Howard and Leonard are working. Leonard gets mad at Howard for thinking he can catch the bird with a garbage bag and a Slim Jim. While they are arguing, the bird grabs the Slim Jim from Leonard’s hand and flies away. Raj joins them and hears the bickering. Howard accuses Leonard of being jealous because he is a closer friend with Raj than he is with him. Howard doesn’t like how Leonard thinks he is smarter than him.
In another attempt to catch the bird, Howard accidentally kills it with a fire extinguisher. He is very upset, telling the guys a story about how he accidentally sat on a blue jay. Leonard suggests doing CPR on the bird. Howard is able to do this successfully. As he goes to bring the bird out of the clean room, another one enters. Howard tells Leonard he is right and that they should call building services and he will take the blame. Leonard says it is both their fault. Penny calls and when Leonard explains what happened, she suggests that they leave and take their names off the sign in sheet. The guys use her idea and head to the party singing "Jingle Bells".
Everyone makes it to the party and after dinner, Sheldon gives Amy the gift he got her. Amy loves the picture, which also has a frame that plays a heartfelt message Sheldon left. He feels satisfied that this will make her feel guilty. That is until she reveals that she got him a gift as well. Sheldon opens a box to find his memaw’s cookies. Amy made them for him with her recipe. Sheldon lightens up and is happy with both his gift and his girlfriend.
