This week’s column has a rich variety of drama mixed with comedy and romance with some musicality mingled in. Get Hard is a comedy about a millionaire who hires a “tough guy” to get him ready for prison after he’s convicted of fraud. A Little Chaos is a romantic dramedy set during King Louis XIV’s reign of France that tells the tale of a female landscape gardener that’s assigned to construct the grand gardens at Versailles and The Last Five Years is musical dramedy about a struggling actress and her novelist lover as each looks back on their tumultuous relationship. All three films have A-list celebrities in their casts with each actor/actress giving their absolute best in their given role. In addition, each motion picture has a singularly unique plot that is sure to bring crowds of moviegoers to their opening days in theaters. Audiences are sure to laugh, swoon and possible cry at certain times in these three very interesting flicks.
Get Hard is a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Ferrell plays James King, a millionaire who gets convicted of fraud and is bound for San Quentin prison. He then hires Darnell Lewis, played by Hart, to prep him for what life will be like behind bars. Also starring rapper T.I., Craig T. Nelson and NBC’s hit TV sitcom Community’s Alison Brie, the film’s trailer shows King hiring Lewis, who has his own dreams of financial success, to get him ready for his 10-year prison sentence. The laughs keep coming as Lewis acquaints King on how to survive in San Quentin. It opens in theaters on Friday, March 27, 2015.
A Little Chaos is romantic dramedy set in the time of France’s King Louis XIV’s court. Directed by and starring Alan Rickman as King Louis, the film also stars Kate Winslet, Showtime’s thriller TV series Penny Dreadful’s Helen McCory and Stanley Tucci. Winslet plays Sabine De Barra, a landscape gardener who is given the honored task to construct the grand gardens at Versailles. This lofty position thrusts her right into the very center of King Louis XIV’ court. The movie’s trailer displays the sheer opulence of Louis’ estate, how Winslet’s character is an unexpected and startling addition to his inner circle, how she brings new concepts to the project and where she finds love when she least expects it. It opens in theaters also on Friday, March 27, 2015.
