AMC has cast the first two stars for its The Walking Dead companion series, which will follow a different set of zombie apocalypse survivors.
Frank Dillane, who appeared in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Alycia Debnam Carey of Into The Storm will star as siblings in the series, reports Deadline.
The lead survivors for the series will be a male teacher who has been through a divorce paired with a female guidance counselor. Dillane will play the counselor’s son, who deals with a drug addiction. Carey, who had previously starred in an AMC pilot called Galytine, will play his ambitious sister.
The Walking Dead spinoff still doesn’t have a title, but it is codenamed Cobalt. While original series creator Robert Kirkman co-created the series, it will not be directly linked to the main series, other than the fact that both sets of survivors are trying to live through the same zombie apocalypse. AMC put in a pilot order for the series in September.
The main series just wrapped the first half of season five and set another series record. According to EW, the episode drew 14.8 million viewers and a huge 9.8 18-49 rating. You can check out our recap here.
