Strange things happen when sports commentators try to physically demonstrate whatever points they are trying to make and that’s exactly what happened during TNT’s NBA Christmas broadcast. Kenny Smith learned that it’s actually easier to send Shaquille O’Neal flying across a floor than it looks.
Smith was trying to show off a move with Shaq, but Shaq apparently wanted to get out of the way. Smith did end up pushing Shaq, who went sliding across the studio and right into a Christmas tree.
As they walked back to the desk, Shaq told Smith, “This means war!” The two were laughing hysterically though, along with Charles Barkley.
It turns out that this isn’t the first time Shaq had a bizarre encounter with a Christmas tree. As the Washington Post points out, on Christmas Day 2012, a tree fell on him while he was trying to shoot a basketball.
If TNT can make Shaq’s Christmas tree misadventures into an annual tradition, even more people would probably tune in. He can try out some Shaq-Fu moves on the tree.
