Eyes were shinning with passion, at the end of her performance, Wagner knew she had accomplished something exceptional last Saturday night.
And indeed, she just set the bar even higher. Her score of 221.02 is the highest in the history of U.S women ice-skating.
She put all of her heart into it, and even more, as if she was taking a sort of revenge. As she explains , she had been under a lot of pressure for a while. She had been criticized because she is 23, which is considered as old for ice-skating. "This shows them, she says, that they need to shut their mouths and watch me skate."
And she showed them what she could do, including impressive figures to blow their mind away. The audience was literally on fire when she was performing on the 'Moulin Rouge' music. Every time she was about to do a figure, it was like the public stopped breathing for a few seconds and then shouted and clapped their hands to congratulate and encourage her.
This was a very inspirational piece that Wagner offered during this competition.
