On Saturday, Better Call Saul creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould faced the media at the Television Critics Association press tour, where they answered the big question about the Breaking Bad spin-off once and for all.

Gilligan and Gould said that Breaking Bad’s Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) will not be in the spin-off’s first season. However, they said all Breaking Bad characters might appear in the show eventually.

“The short answer is: The sky is the limit and any of these characters could conceivably show up in future seasons,” Gilligan explained, reports Entertainment Weekly. “But the intention is it will feel proper and organic, because if it feels like a stunt then something has gone terribly wrong in the writers’ room.”

Gilligan said that some characters, including Jesse, would be really hard to work into Saul, since it is a prequel. They have to figure out ways to work the characters into the story in ways that don’t feel like gimmicks.

AMC also released a longer trailer for the first season, which shows just how good Bob Odenkirk can be when he’s leading a series.

Better Call Saul premieres on Sunday Feb. 8 at 10 p.m., with a second episode airing the following night. AMC has already renewed it for a second season.
