Bill Cosby’s shows in Ontario will go on as planned, despite the mounting sexual assault allegations the comedian faces. With just hours to go before tonight’s show, he issued a statement to fans, promising a big show.
A rep for Cosby sent a statement to the London Free Press, hours before his show in Kitchener, telling ticket holders to “Remain calm and do not confront the person making the disruption.”
Cosby added, “I plan to give fans the show of their life.”
The London Abused Women’s Centre plans to protest at Cosby’s show on Thursday in London, but assured the Free Press that their protest will be peaceful.
“I can certainly tell you there’s no need to be concerned about protesters either in or outside. This is a peaceful protest,” Megan Walker, the group’s leader, told the paper. “We aren’t targeting him. We are just saying we stand with women.”
Cosby will also be performing in Hamilton on Friday.
While performances in the U.S. have been cancelled since women started coming forward with allegations that they were raped and drugged by the Cosby Show star, the promoters of the Canadian shows insisted that they would go on. As the National Post noted last week, filmmaker Judd Apatow slammed the Ontario venues for not cancelled the shows.
On Tuesday, Phylicia Rashad, who starred on The Cosby Show, defended Cosby and even suggested that the allegations were “orchestrated.”
Meanwhile, USA Today, Gloria Allred will hold a press conference later today in Los Angeles and claims that she has three more women who also say they were victims of Cosby.
