Rappers Rick Ross and J. Cole and actor Will Poulter are all celebrating their birthdays today, January 28.
Rick Ross, 39
Rapper and songwriter Rick Ross turns 39 today. Born William Leonard Roberts II, Ross worked as a correctional officer in South Florida in the 1990's. He released his debut album, Port of Miami in 2006. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is certified Gold. His second album, Trilla, also debuted at No. 1 in 2008.
Ross performed at the 2011 BET Awards where he was also nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artists. His fifth album, God Forgives, I Don't, was released in 2012 and reached No. 8 on the UK albums chart and No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, his first top 10 UK album. His sixth album, Mastermind, also debuted at No. 1 on Bllboard 200, but his next album peaked at No. 6.
Ross is currently nominated for three Grammy awards; two for his collaboration with Chris Brown and Usher in "New Flame," and author collaboration with Luke James in "Options."
J. Cole, 30
Rapper, producer and songwriter J. Cole turns 33 today. Born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, Cole gained recognition with his first mixtape, The Come Up, in 2007. He signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation in 2009 and released his second mixtape, The Warm Up.
His debut studio album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, was released in 2011 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Top R&B Albums and the Top Rap Albums charts. He earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. His second album, Born Sinner, was released in 2013 and debut at No 2 on the Billboard 200 and eventually rose to No. 1. The single "Power Trip" featuring Miguel, earned a Grammy Nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
Cole's 2014 album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, became his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart and is certified Gold.
Will Poulter, 22
Actor and producer Will Poulter turns 22 today. Poulter made his film debut in 2008's Son of Rambow. He went on to play Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
In 2013, Poulter played Kenny in We're The Millers alongside Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts. For his role, he won the BAFTA Rising Star award. He went on to star in the 2014 critically acclaimed film The Maze Runner.
Poulter took part in the Vanity Fair photo spread for "Hollywood's Next Wave" alongside 22 other up and coming actors.
Poulter will join Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy in the thriller The Revenant.
