Zachary Levi, who starred on NBC’s cult hit Chuck, is returning to the network. He has scored a role in the upcoming Heroes reboot Heroes Reborn.
NBC didn’t say what role Levi will take, but promised it will be an important one. He will be joining original Heroes star Jack Coleman in the new mini-series. The rest of the cast hasn’t been set yet.
Before Heroes Reborn, NBC plans on launching a digital series to introduce the new characters and storylines. The network hopes to use social media to get fans excited about the return of the franchise, which ended in 2010. The series was created by Tim King.
“One of my first, and fondest, memories of joining the NBC family in 2007 was having the pleasure of getting to know Tim Kring, and the cast of Heroes. I was a fan of their collective work and always thought it was such a fantastic and fun world they got to play in,” Levi said in a statement. “With Heroes: Reborn, I’m honored to have the opportunity to bring more of that world to life, and excited to help in offering the fans of the franchise an epic new installation of a series that made such a huge impact on entertainment.”
Levi scored his breakthrough role in Chuck, starring as the title character from 2007 to 2012. Since then, he starred as Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and debuted on Broadway in First Date. He also voiced Flynn in Disney’s Tangled.
