Phylicia Rashad, who played Cliff Huxtable’s wife on The Cosby Show, has remained quiet about the sexual assault allegations Bill Cosby is now facing. However, she finally broke her silence this week and is fully supportive of the comedian.

Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 caught up with Rashad at a special Paramount event for Selma and had to ask her for her opinion on the matter. At first, she said, “I love him,” about Cosby, but then went further.

“Forget these women,” she told Friedman. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”

Rashad also dismissed claims from models Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson. She also called Camille Cosby, who has also defended her husband, a “tough woman, a smart woman.”

“Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV,” Rashad said. “And it’s worked. All his contracts have been cancelled.”

Rashad isn’t the first Cosby Show star to defend Cosby. Keshia Knight Pulliam told the Today Show Tuesday that he is still innocent until proven guilty.

“You know, it's very much been played out in the court of public opinion,” Pulliam said. “But we're still in America, where ultimately you're innocent until proven guilty. I wasn't there. That's just not the man I know. So I can't speak to it.”
