Broadchurch and Doctor Who actor David Tennant will take on a role as a villain for Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series AKA Jessica Jones.

E! News reported that the series will also star Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter.

Melissa Rosenberg, who is the executive producer and is also the showrunner, made a statement saying, “I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character. He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”

Kilgrave is known as The Purple Man in the comic books and he was involved in Jessica Jones’ life. Jones, played by Ritter, left her superhero persona behind due to tragedy.

Marvel reported that Colter takes the role of Luke Cage and the show will run for 13 episodes.

AKA Jessica Jones is one of four shows Marvel and Netflix have teamed up for to showcase four superhero characters. The other three include Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist.

AKA Jessica Jones will premiere sometime this year.
