The real Dick Pope has broken his silence after trending on and off all day on Twitter Thursday for Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs referring to him as Dick Poop early this morning.

Pope, who was nominated in the Cinematography category for his work on Mr. Turner, laughed off the mistake.

“You know what, I have been called a lot worse in my time. I don't think twice about anything like that. I am happy to be nominated,” he told USA Today.

Instead of watching the nomination announcements this morning, Pope was at London's Tate Gallery. Appropriately, he was touring the museums works of J.M.W. Turner's portraits, who Mr. Turner centers on.

He did say, "I feel sorry for the lady who made the mispronunciation.”

Pope was not amused by being a trending subject on Twitter, saying he doesn’t have an account and he’s “completely naïve” as to what it is.

"All I know is that I have a lot of e-mails here saying I am trending on Twitter. They might as well be saying I am landing on the moon, as far as I am concerned,” he said.
