The National Football League is a giant in this country. No other sport or even entertainment entity can match the live, unscripted, dramatic content that they create.
Obviously, the Super Bowl is no exception.
Most people who don't consider themselves football fans become one during this time. It is the one day where most get together and watch a television somewhere.
But what if you truly still could care less about the game? Well, Dish Network is thinking alongside those people.
Everybody has heard about Dish Network's AutoHop Feature. What they're now introducing to viewers during the Super Bowl is what's called the "Reverse AutoHop."
What this will do is, for those who so choose, is instead of auto-skipping commercials like the regular AutoHop does, it'll auto-skip the game. This way, those non-football fans can enjoy the top commercials of the year, football free.
The service will be available a day after Super Bowl Sunday.
In a Press Release through the company, Vivek Khemka, DISH senior vice president of product management, elaborated on the new concept:
“This day is about two things: football and commercials, and for good reason -- both are entertaining and our customers love them,” said Khemka. “We’ve decided to flip our user-enabled ad-skipping feature on its head so customers can watch the ads uninterrupted the next day when everyone is talking about them.”
“We have several clients running Super Bowl ads this year, and DISH’s creative technology means more people will see those ads,” said Bill Koenigsberg, president, CEO and founder of Horizon Media. “Making these entertaining ads ‘appointment watching’ after the game puts the brands front and center for an even wider audience. Regardless of who wins the game, that’s a win for advertisers and consumers.”
Finally, a provider understands how big this day has become for not just football fans, but Super Bowl Sunday fans.
