Disney has introduced its first Latina princess, Elena of Avalor. She will be available to purchase in 2016.

On Thursday, Nancy Kanter, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, revealed Princess Elena will make her debut on Disney Junior’s Sofia the First next year.

After she’s introduced to audiences, she will get her own spin-off show called Elena of Avalor. Her voice will be provided by ABC Family’s Young & Hungry star Aimee Carrero

Elena is described as a "confident and compassionate teenage” who is inspired by “diverse Latin cultures and folklore."

ABC News reports Kanter said in a statement that they plan on using Princess Elena to “tell wonderful stories influenced by culture and traditions that are familiar to the worldwide population of Hispanic and Latino families and reflect the interests and aspirations of all children as told through a classic fairy tale."

According to Latina, Elena will have an abuela named Cici, an abueo Tito. She also has a royal advisor, Duke Esteban.
