Eva Mendes gave a speech at the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer event on Wednesday but blamed her telepromopter slip-up on lack of sleep due to being a new mom.

Mendes struggled through the lines but apologized at one point when she was told to “go back” because she flubbed the line.

“I just had a baby! I haven’t slept,” she told the audience, E! Online reports.

She did manage to convey the importance of cancer treatment research. She also got personal and told the crowd he brother had just underwent a procedure that same day.

"Each one of us in this room that is here tonight, we're here because someone in our family or someone close to us has been affected by this insidious disease," she said.

"Tonight I'm here with my family and my brother Carlos, who I love so much. He had treatment today and we weren't sure if he was going to be feeling up to it. So, I'm so happy you made it, and I love you.”

Mendes and boyfriend Ryan Gosling welcomed their daughter back in September – the first child for both.
