While the trailer for the fifth season of Game of Thrones hasn’t technically been posted on the Internet, one sneaky fan managed to film the trailer during an IMAX screening and posted it on YouTube.
The two-minute trailer is being shown in select IMAX theaters across the country this weekend, along with the final two episodes of season four. It’s the first time IMAX has shown TV episodes in theaters.
Actress Sophie Turner and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss attended a special screening of the event on Thursday night in Universal City. Even Turner, who plays Sansa, was surprised by the new footage.
“I hadn't seen (the trailer) before. It's pretty exciting,” Turner told USA Today. “This was just as much a tease for me as it was for everyone else."
The teaser makes it pretty clear that Sansa’s role in the series is getting bigger, but the chase for the Iron Throne is still on. Varys (Conleth Hill) seems to have a good idea for how a new ruler can take over the Seven Kingdoms and starts working with fugitive Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).
Check out the trailer, which MTV UK found, before HBO takes it down.
