Jimmy Kimmel has uncovered an ugly truth about half the people his Jimmy Kimmel Live correspondent interviewed on the streets of Los Angeles. Out of 14 people, only seven knew that Martin Luther King Jr. is dead.

On Martin Luther King Day, they filmed the show’s “Lie Witness News” segment and asked questions about arguably one of the most prominent the civil rights leaders.

“Usually it takes us a while to find people who are dopey enough, sometimes it take hours. But today on Martin Luther King Day, this took almost no time at all,” Kimmel joked, Us Weekly reports.

Of course, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968, but this was not a fact these people were aware of. When asked if they saw the speech Dr. King made “this morning,” the results were rather sad.

One person actually said, "I was shocked. I haven't heard him talk for a while."
