HBO made a flurry of moves tonight, with the Television Critics Association press tour under way in Pasadena. One move will be of particular interest to fans of comedian Jack Black and Oscar winning actor Tim Robbins.

The Brink, a pilot starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black that HBO ordered back in September 2013, has been picked up by the premium cable network. The first season will start this summer and will run 10 episodes.

The darkly comic series centers on geopolitical landscape shifts after a rogue general takes command of Pakistan and its nuclear arsenal. Three Americans - Secretary of State Walter Larson (Robbins), Foreign Service officer Alex Talbot (Black) and Navy pilot Zeke Tilson (The Wire actor Pablo Schreiber) - get involved and have to help stop World War III.

Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Esai Morales and Geoff Pierson also star.

The Brink was created by Roberto Benabib and Kim Benabib. Roberto Benabib is executive producing with Jay Roach and Jerry Weintraub. Black and Robbins are among the producers.

Black is set to star in this year’s Goosebumps movie, while Robbins was recently in Welcome To Me and Thanks For Sharing.
