Don’t expect Mariah Carey or Nick Cannon to talk about their divorce for awhile. The two signed a prenuptial agreement when they got married and it includes a confidentiality clause.

While Cannon confirmed that the two were no longer living together in August, it wasn’t until last month that Cannon secretly filed for divorce. The couple kept the split under wraps for so long that the divorce filing wasn’t reported until this week.

It looks like both of them have a reason for keeping their relationship under wraps. According to sources for TMZ, the couple’s prenup includes a confidentiality agreement that would force Cannon to pay a $250,000 penalty if he goes public. Carey, who is still worth much more than Cannon, will have to him $500,000 if she talks.

When Carey and Cannon married in 2008, she was worth $150 million, but Cannon was only worth $500,000. Now, he’s certainly worth much more, thanks to his countless projects and hosting America’s Got Talent for NBC.

TMZ also reported that the two have already set a property settlement agreement.

The couple share 3-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. Care announced on Thursday that she has agreed to a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. During her shows, she will perform all 18 of her No. 1 singles.
