Michael Sam, who made history as the first openly gay athlete to be drafted to the NFL, is reportedly engaged to his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano.
Sam came out in an interview with Outside the Lines last year and the couple made headlines when they kissed upon learning Sam got drafted to the St. Louis Rams.
According to TMZ, the college sweethearts got engaged while vacationing in Europe. They haven’t confirmed the news themselves yet, but a friend of Cammisano has congratulated him on Instagram.
His friend from the University of Missouri swim team wrote, “People, he is officially off the market!!!!! My beautiful friend @vitcamm is getting married!!!!!!!” and Sam “liked” the post.
In August, Sam was cut by the Rams.
During a speech at the ESPYs in July upon receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, he called Cammisano “my inspiration.” He got a standing ovation at the event.
