Michelle Obama did not keep in line with tradition during a visit to Saudi Arabia with President Obama, failing to wear a headscarf to cover up her hair like the women are required to do there.
The First Lady joined her husband in the Middle Eastern country to give condolences after the death of King Abdullah.
The AP reports Westerners are not required to go along with the Saudi customs. However, most women do out of respect.
She did wear loose clothing for the trip, which is also a requirement for Saudi women.
Thousands of Saudis took to Twitter to use the hashtags “#Michelle_Obama_Immodest” and "#Michelle_Obama_NotVeiled” after her public
appearance.
The Telegraph reports of those Twitter users, many pointed out she wore a headscarf in 2010 during a trip to Indonesia.
During trips to Saudi Arabaia in 2011 and 2006, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush both opted against wearing head scarves, so FLOTUS isn’t the only one.
