The 19th season of ABC’s The Bachelor premiered on Monday, Jan. 5 and at the red carpet special hosted by Chris Harrison, Nikki Ferrell explained why she split from Juan Pablo Galavis back in October.

Ferrell, who appeared on Vh1’s Couples Therapy with Galavis, said it was just a fundamental difference in their personalities and lifestyles that caused their split.

Us Weekly reports while Ferrell lives in Missouri, Galavis lives in Miami, Fla. They’re both committed to their lives in their respective states.

"It's not from a lack of trying on either side. I tried really hard and he tried too,” she told Harrison. "I wasn't going to quit. I'm not a quitter. I tried everything, he tried, too. It wasn't just a one-side thing... we real-life tried, not TV-tried."

She admitted when she went to visit him in Miami, she felt like she wasn’t a priority and ultimately didn’t fit into his life there.

"He lives in Miami and he's in the entertainment industry and that's his job and his lifestyle," she said, adding it was “really hard for me to fit into that. At the end of the day we gave it a go but we're just two different people."

"When I would come there I would feel like I was just kind of like thrown into his life," she also said. "I knew I was never going to be the number one priority. He has a daughter... But there's a difference between being the second priority and the seventh priority."

Meanwhile, Chris Soules in the new bachelor and the new season is now underway.
