When Nick Jonas performed at the Miss Universe pageant in Miami this past weekend, he serenaded his girlfriend Olivia Culpo in the crowd. He’s now revealing had a freak-out moment during his the song because she thought he was proposing to her.
Jonas was singing his hit song “Jealous” and left the stage briefly to sing to Culpo, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2012.
"I went down and sang to her and I go on a knee and approached her. Her face was in full panic, she thought I was going to propose on national TV in front of one billion people," he told The Sun.
After it happened, Culpo took to Instagram to call it the “best part” of the night.
“Best part of tonight. Being serenaded by this stud #MissUniverse2015 @nickjonas,” she wrote.
The couple started dating in 2013 and have fielded questions about marriage before. He added, "We're 22 so there's plenty of time to do that.”
He told Access Hollywood in October of getting engaged to Culpo that he would be interested "at some point.”
"It would be ideal [to settle down], but we're still quite young and we're going on a journey,” he said at the time.
