Jurors will hear opening statements in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez on Thursday.

CNN noted that the attorneys’ statements are set to get underway in the case of the former NFL star, who is charged with killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd.

The body of the 27-year-old Lloyd was found in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez’s North Attleboro, Massachusetts home in June 2013. He had been shot to death and Hernandez was taken into custody days later.

The ex-tight end and his two alleged accomplices Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, have all plead not guilty to murder.

As previously reported, opening statements were to begin Monday but Bristol County Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh delayed the proceedings because of a winter storm that was bearing down on the Northeast.

This is the first of two murder trials for Hernandez. He is also accused of fatally shooting Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado outside a Boston nightclub in 2012 after an alleged altercation inside.

He has plead not guilty in that case as well.
