Pro-life groups are thrilled with Kelly Clarkson’s recent admission that she used her then-unborn daughter River’s heartbeat in her song “HeartBeat Song.”

Though Clarkson has never attached herself to any group or stance on any pro-life or pro-choice issue, pro-life groups are touting it as support for cases that restrict abortions based on when a baby’s heartbeat is detected.

Matt Lockett, Executive Director of anti-abortion group Bound4LIFE, said in a statement, “For these two events to unexpectedly happen at exactly the same time should make us all ponder for a moment,” adding, the song was released “just as two important Heartbeat laws are being defended in court — it’s either an extraordinary coincidence or a confirmation.”

People reports Clarkson said on Elvis Duran and The Z100 Morning Show that the song’s beat is “actually River’s heartbeat slowed down from when she was in my tummy.”

Clarkson hasn’t commented on Lockett’s statements but she did say during the interview of including the heartbeat “we haven’t told anyone.” The cat is out of the bag now.
