In the documentary Light Girls, which premieres Monday on OWN, Raven-Symone reveals she used to go tanning several times a week while filming her Disney show That’s So Raven.

The documentary is a follow-up to Dark Girls, and examines the insecurities African American women who have lighter skin feel.

"When I had my own show, I used to tan three or four times a week in a tanning bed," she revealed, ABC News reports. She only stopped when one of the lighting guys told her to.

She recalled him telling her, “Raven, I need you to stop tanning. You're getting too dark, and we have to re-light the whole entire show.” Her response was “Sorry. I was just trying to be pretty.”

Aside from the now 29 year old actress, fellow actresses Essence Atkins and Angela Hubbard, director Bill Duke and singer Chante Moore also share their experiences in Light Girls.

Huffington Post notes in October, while Symone was on Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now?, she said she didn’t want to be “labeled” as African American.

"I don't label myself," she said. "I have darker skin. I have a nice, interesting grade of hair. I connect with Caucasian, I connect with Asian, I connect with Black, I connect with Indian, I connect with each culture."
